A serene Norwegian space in monochrome and nudes

It's the weekend - woooop! But before we all shoot off, let's head to Norway for today's home tour. This space belongs to Nina Holst of Stylizimo blog. Nina moved home last year and since her previous home was so fab and included this famous walk-in-wardrobe, I've been eagerly awaiting to see what she was going to do with the new pad. And it certainly doesn't disappoint! Nina has stuck to her signature black, white and nude colour scheme and played with the beautiful light. All the shots of this serene, minimalist home have been taken by Nina, and she's also a talented artist (this is her latest painting), stylist (love this office) and store owner. Are there no end to this busy girls talents?

Homeowner & Photography: Nina Holst

What a serene space - oh how I'd love to be sitting in the egg lounge chair looking out over the snow covered hills right now, how about you?!

So many pieces I know and love including: the wishbone chairs, Norm 69 pendant light and white Panthella floor lamp, AJ desk and floor AJ floor lamp, DLM table, white desk lamp, Design House Stockholm Björk rug in bedroom, Tom Dixon etch tea light holder, By Lassen kubus candle holder and vase with brass neck from H&M (sadly sold out - trust me I've been looking everywhere!).

Is there anything that stands out to you?

If you like this colous scheme you'll also love this  kitchen, office space and home tour in the same monochrome and nude. Definitely my colours of the moment!

Any plans for the weekend? I think I'm going to sleep (I feel soooo tired!) but I'm also planning for a VIP visit from my ma and pa from London next week - sooo excited!

Before I shoot off - I'd like to to introduce you to a returning sponsor - oh so lovely handmade jewellery shop Studio Cosette. Safe to say, I pretty much love every piece Fai makes. But if I had to choose just two pieces I'd go for these earrings and the halo necklace (this is not a hint...honest!).

Have a great weekend and see you Monday!

Monochrome and nude scheme in a lovely Scottish home

I hope you had a great weekend? Or still enjoying your long weekend if you're in the US - not jealous at all...honest!). Today I thought I'd take you on a tour of Deborah's lovely house in Glasgow, Scotland. Deborah's an interior designer and visual merchandiser / stylist (which explains why her home is so lovely) and editor behind fab blog Ollie & Seb's Haus .  She shares her home with her husband and two little boys Oliver and Sebastien (I once showed their bedroom here). If you love monochrome with a soft palette of nudes and creams, you're in for a real treat. And even if you don't, there are plenty of ideas to steal anyway! Here are some of my favourite snapshots of her home...

What do you think? Anything that catches your eye?

I spy some of my favourite pieces: Kristina Dam Palm 1 print, Design House Stockholm work lamp, Thonet 209 chair, Diamond cage light, Faux Poster Collection - A, Grey throw, linen bedding and Mathilda Clahr leather strap.

I went to the University of Edinburgh so it's been a pleasure going on a virtual tour back to Scotland today! I remember our student pad was painted in vivid colours such as deep reds, blues and yellow, with each room a different hue. Very different from today's home tour -  but beautiful its own way.

More black and white spaces here, here and here. Or if you prefer a space in a riot of colours how about this bright home of an artist?

Have a lovely day!

PS Thank you for entering the Nest.co.uk give-away over the weekend. The competition closed at midnight and the winner will be announced on the give-away post and sent an e-mail later today.

The modern monochrome Stockholm space

Hello! How are you today?! I have to say, I've really taken to working from home. After 12 years of working in an office, there's a lot to be said for sitting at my laptop in chunky knit socks and messy undone hair! Of course, working from home depends very much on the environment. For example, imagine working from home in this apartment of Swedish photographer Jakob Nylund (previously shown here) over looking the rooftops of Södermalm, Stockholm? Calm, personal, monochrome (love the black floor, how about you?) with industrial and vintage touches, not to mention the roaring log fire. I could feel inspired here, could you?!

Fastighetsmaklarna

The apartment is currently for sale here). Hurry!

Fab ideas to steal - vintage crate as bedside table, anglepoise style wall lights, string shelving, Eames House Bird,  Eames DSW chair, copper pendant lights. Smeg fridge.

Anything that stands out to you?

More black and white home inspiration include one of favourite apartments of all time owned by a creative duo, this fab Helsinki home starring a very cute baby and the cool home of Annie Lindgren.

There's always this office inspiration for anyone who feels like they need to pep up their work space, or this studio for something bright and fabulous.

It's nearly the weekend - woohoo! Any great plans? This one is particularly exciting as I've teamed up with Nest.co.uk, a fab modern design store, to hold a very exciting weekend give-away. Watch this space!

Have a wonderful day!

The fab monochrome home of Karine Kong

I've never met Karine Kong in person but I've a feeling she's incredibly cool. Firstly, French born Karine is part owner of the fab online shop Bodie and Fou, which she owns with her sister Elodie. And secondly her home, which she shares with husband Steve and daughter Mila in Brook Green, London is stunning and full of unique touches.  I love the monochrome backdrop, artwork and personal objects. And that entrance hall? *WOW*! Could you live there?! I certainly could (and that's not just because it's located in my home town, honest!).

What do you think? Lovely, right? Anything that stands out in particular to you?

A few items I see and love: Bandit girl print (I've got the same one in my little girls bedroom), le paper bag, Paulistano chair in whisky leather, milk table light, Koushi lampshade and pom poms.

You can read the full article about Karine's home over at Milk Magazine (in French).

Mila's room is super cute don't you think? I love the vintage school desk (try Etsy). Do you remember this girls room and this room fit for a superhero? Too cute! I'm always squirreling away pictures on my children's room Pinterest board too - yes, I know I've only recently redecorated my girls room but....! I also turn to my friend Peggy's kids, design and lifestyle blog Paul et Paula for inspiration- as you can imagine her own kids always look divine.

Have a lovely day!

A lovely family home in a former kindergaten

Our Christmas tree was cast out last night (always a sad moment!). This can only mean one thing: it's time for early spring, I even brought some tulips (optimist)! What better way to kick off the season than the lovely home of Britta and her daughter Emma Lotta in Oldenburg, Germany? Britta is influenced by Scandinavian style (she works as an interior design specialist for IKEA) and has decorated the space using a monochrome and pastel colour scheme. Her abode also reminds me of  some of the Dutch spaces we've seen (such as this and this home) so I wasn't surprise to discover she also enjoys design inspiration trips to Holland. The beautiful old building used to be a kindergaten and has now been transformed into a lovely, harmonious home decorated with a mix of IKEA pieces, vintage finds and nordic design items thanks to Britta's innate sense of style. Bring on spring pastels!

Anything you love about this home in particular?

I love the entrance hall- it's simply stunning!! (more hallway inspiration here).

A few items I know and love - if helpful?: Sitting room: J110 Hay chair, Lenn Bakker grey carpet, stockholm black and white rug, Karlstad sofa.  Kitchen: Industrial pendant lights: IB Laursen, the dining table is vintage,  the Shelf and chair are from IKEA. Office: chair and table, IKEA. Brakig boxes, Lenn bakker decorative boxes. Children's room: many of the items can be found at IKEA. Pastel pom poms. The print is man in the moon.

You can see more pictures of this lovely home here (interview in German).

PS The US version of the free My Scandinavian Home Calendar 2015 is now fixed and ready for you to print! I'm currently looking for pictures of 'February' to show here on the blog - so if you have a fun pic please do send it over!

Have a lovely day!

A serene Swedish home in white and wood

I'm writing today's post from a candlelit cafe by the sea here in Southern Sweden.  It's barely daylight and there's a storm raging over the sea. It's feels so cosy to be tucked up inside! Contrary to the weather outside, this Gothenburg space is a picture of calm. I love the black, white, grey, and wood theme with touches of brass. One item that stands out in particular is the vintage brass drinks trolley used as a side table in the sitting room. I could batten down the hatches and ride out a storm in this lovely apartment, how about you?

Stadshem
So lovely don't you think? Anything that stands out to you?

A few items I know and love: Muuto E27 pendant light, svenskt tenn elefant place mats, HAY DLM table, HAY dots cushion, Sheepskin rug, HAY dots cushion, Thonet 214 chair. Granit industrial mail sorter. Lamino easy chair in graphite. You can source lovely prints from Elina Dahl (free shipping within Sweden until Christmas, available to worldwide).

See more, beautiful serene spaces here, here and here. Or escape the stormy winter weather by transporting yourself to a boho abode in Mexico, or a Brazilian escape with a pool. *Yes.Please*.

I think it's time for one of those hot chocolates with whipped cream and cinnamon I talked about yesterday, don't you?

Have a lovely day!
