A unique and fabulous German home

I feel inspired. Not just because it's a beautiful morning here in southern sweden (although that certainly helps) but because of the unique design of this home in Germany.  The images dropped into my inbox last week from design company STUDIO OINK who not only designed the interior but also chose the art and design products for the home. The soft fabrics (sheer curtains, sheepskin rugs) and wooden furniture work really well in warming up the more austere combination of concrete and marble (who would have thought these two materials could work so well together?). And then there's that touch of mid-century and brass. What a fabulous home don't you think?!

I think this is one very cool home, how aboout you?

To me, the artwork really stands out. I'm a big fan of  'ocean' photography / art and even have a board dedicated to it on Pinterest! I'm waiting to hear where the piece in the dining space is from but in the meantime other ocean art pieces I love include Tulum, by Max Wanger as seen in this home and the limited edition seascape print  by Kara Rosenlund (her incredible home can be seen here). Take me to the ocean!!

STUDIO OINK also designed the fabulous Asbau apartment. If I lived in Germany I know who I'd get to help design my home...!

A stunning Italian loft

I'm so over excited about today's home tour: an incredible Italian loft created by architects Amorfo. It's a little like a museum - every piece has been carefully selected for it's aesthetics whether mid-century, industrial or designer - and exhibited against a backdrop of concrete / white walls and floors and angled ceilings. Modern day architecture and minimalism at it's best! I would add soft textiles such as colourful rugs, throws and cushions to make it my home. How about you?

An artist's home in black, white and concrete

It's Friday - yay! To top of the week I'd love to share this home with you designed by Copenhagen based firm Norm Architects. The house is situated directly behind Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek (a must-see in Copenhagen!). The architectural work was commissioned by a local artist who was looking to turn the space into a modern home with more light so it could function both as a home and studio. The brick work and beams are original but Norm laid a new concrete floor.The monochrome palette and use of texture reminds me a lot of the Danish home from earlier in the week (do you prefer this floor or the glossier version?).

So now the beautiful bones are in place it's time to add the personal stamp. I'm sure it'll look truly wonderful!

I have to say, I do love Norm Architect's distinct style (see other of their homes featured here and here. They're also the architects behind Copenhagen restaurant Höst, one of my favourite places to eat out). How about you?

A stunning Copenhagen home with a shiny touch

Today I'm loving this beautiful home in the heart of Copenhagen belonging to Line Dahy Ernst and Thomas Hoedholts (who unsurprisingly work in the fashion and design industry). The exposed beams, rough plastered walls, and monochrome colour palette. The fab designer pieces such as the Thonet 209 chairs and Vitra Hang it all . But most of all the stunning polished concrete floor which reflects light around the space- what a fantastic apartment?!

By the way, if you're visiting Copenhagen I have a little tip for you. I recently discovered this cool hotel called Central Hotel og Café in Vesterbro. When I say little I mean it - it only has one room and is considered the world's smallest hotel! And the bonus? Breakfast in the cafe immediately below.

A Danish home in monochrome

It feels like quite a while ago I showed a black and white home and no one does it better than Danish firm Norm architects. Despite the abundance of white, the space is given interest and depth by the use of different textures and materials while the architecture is designed to allow light to flow through the small apartment. I love how the black really pops.

I spy classic white Eames DAR chairs around the dining table and a beautiful black Eames RAR rocking chair (15% off with code MYSCAN). The one thing I can't find though are where those amazing pendant lights over the table are from - any ideas?

The stunning home of a dutch photographer

Every now again I stumble across an extra special home and this is one of them. It belongs to Dutch photographer Dana van Leeuwen and her family and is situated just outside Amsterdam. Dana and her husband bought the land and demolished the existing house before building this beautiful home. A brave move which has certainly paid off. Not only do I love the way the couple have decorated the space with white and concrete floors and muted tones (with the odd splash of colour) but I also love the way Dana has photographed it for Est magazine.

A beautiful converted barn

Hello....nearly the weekend -yay! I promised a surprise today but unfortunately it won't be ready until tomorrow, I'm really sorry! I hope the inspiration from this beautiful house makes it up to you until the project's ready. This converted barn appeared on the Swedish TV show Hustoppen last year and appeared on the lovely Purple Area (a fellow Skåne blog) today. I'm in love with the white wood paneling and beams, concrete floor, little nooks, vintage furniture and linen covered sofas. How about you?
