Party time!

I moved to Sweden exactly ten years today. Crazy! In that time I married my wonderful Swedish husband, had  my two lovely little girls, created this blog and renovated our home among other life adventures. Thank you Sweden, for being a wonderful hostess, here's to many years to come! In my dreams I'm celebrating with a fabulous alfresco party and of course you're all invited. Hope you can make it?!.....

I love the last picture in particular - who needs a babysitter? This is such a great way of keeping the little ones entertained while we dance the night away don't you think?! And of course, that's you in the second picture arriving?

Waterfall and cluster fairy lights and vintage champagne glasses a must as well as lots more inspiration on my new party and food pin boards. There's always my alfresco board for the morning after brunch too. Party on people!

Back tomorrow with a Scandinavian house tour to enjoy and inspire us all over weekend, see you then. And in the meantime, have a wonderful Friday!

happy 1st birthday james! {let’s party}

Our favorite little guy turned one!  What a milestone (for him as well as Momma and Daddy)! Of course, we had to have a little party to celebrate the occasion.  We kept the party small, just family, but it was so awesome that all the James’ (I, II, III, and IV) were able to get together for the first time!   We have so enjoyed this first year- it is pure JOY and LOVE and SWEETNESS with baby James in our lives.

A huge thank you to A Blissful Nest for the banner at the top of this post- it made quite the impression as our guests entered the house!  She has a wonderful collection of super cute paper goodies so go check her out!

And mucho thanks to Pretty Smitten!  About a month before the party, I still had no idea exactly what direction we were going until I saw her adorable train and petals motif.  She took it from there, creating the invitations, cupcake toppers, food labels, “James is ONE” sign and the banner at the top of the stairs.  She even included personalized thank you notes and stickers.  You rock!

Party Preparations

Hi there!  I hope y’all had a wonderful weekend!  Mine was full of house cleaning (me on the inside and hubby working on cutting the grass and mulching the yard), projects, and preparing for James’ first birthday party.  My precious baby is turning one year old this weekend!!!!

I can’t believe it- but I think I’m ready to celebrate!  I’m so thankful that Pretty Smitten and A Blissful Nest have blessed us with some party decor!  Here’s a little preview:)

A Superbowl Party

A big congratulations to Green Bay, winners of Superbowl XLV!  Although I’m not a huge sports fan, I still get emotional at the end of the game when the big winner is announced and I see the joy and pride on the faces of the players and fans.  Then I feel so bad for the losing team!

We hosted a small gathering at our house, for our friends and their little ones.  We had about 15 adults and a small playground living room full of kids, most of which were around age 2.    Needless to say, we enjoyed

The menu consisted of typical game day fare: a variety of chips, dips, spinach and artichoke dip, and chili cheese hot dogs.  The table cloth is a discount fabric cut to fit the table.

No Texas football party is complete without 7-layer dip (refried beans, avocado, sour cream, green onion, olives, tomatoes, cheese) {thanks Stace!}

And of course, something sweet to top it all off!  Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownies are the best!

Being busy with James and the party, I missed most of the commercials.  Many of the adults with children left about halftime, so I got to see the awesome performance by the Black Eyed Peas and Usher.  Did you like it?

The Loveliest Tea Party

image

It was the image above that got me.  Had me returning to her blog to look at it again and again and to admire not just the beautifully simple table setting, colorful poms (that she made), and sweet ‘happy birthday’ banner, but the impossibly perfect photo that is shot toward the window with the sunlight streaming in.  If you’ve ever tried to take a picture in this direction, you know how difficult it is and can see why I admired this picture so much.

The photo was taken by Kelsey, who threw her daughter this sweet 6th birthday tea party.  You can see the details of the party, including where the decor is from, what was served, and what the favors were at Kelsey’s blog “My Kids Eat Kale”

Here’s a close-up of that pretty, pretty table.

Cupcakes that almost look too beautiful to eat.

Of course, there had to be fresh flowers in a teapot! and on a doily:)

What about these adorable invitations?!

clip_image005

Looking at these sweet, innocent children, all dressed up, drinking their tea actually chokes me up.  In mean, can you imagine how fun it must have been to be a little girl on that day??

The detail and love that went into this party is evident.  Kelsey, you really honored your daughter and her friends.   Thanks for sharing!
