Quiet Time

This weekend on my way back to Birmingham from a much needed vacation I listened to a sermon by Tim Keller on work and it was just what I needed. I highly recommend it, especially as we enter into another Monday (no matter what your "work" is) and this busy season and it is easy to get burned out. I am not sure if you can find it online but if you download the app and go to "audio" then "Genesis" you will find it there.

A touch of Scandinavian Christmas decorating inspiration

I always start putting up a few Christmas decorations around Advent Sunday.  In case you'll be doing the same, here's a little modern Scandinavian Christmas inspiration for advent calendars, candles and a pretty olive branch wreath I'm hoping to make for my front door.  Happy decorating!

Images: 1. Frichic 2. Weekday Carnival DIY 3. Marsipan og Smilifjes 4. Bella Blogit 5. Petra Bindel 6. Does anyone know the credit?

I'm planning lots more Christmas posts in the month of December. In the meantime you can take a peek through past Christmas posts here (scroll passed the first post which will be the same as this one), or take a look at my Christmas Pinterest board which I'm forever updating.

Don't forget to stop by tomorrow to enter a fab advent give-away!

Have a great night!

The home of Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby

Hello, and happy thanks giving to everyone in America! Here in Sweden it's a normal Friday - but hey, that means it's the weekend so I'm happy! Since I'm in a festive mood I'll be publishing two posts today: a home tour and then later, some fab Scandinavian Christmas inspiration. First, the wonderful home of Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby which is up for sale. Pella's graphical signtaure style shines through in every room. I also love the light grey marble, white floors and the cosy bedroom. I'm sure Pella's very sad to be leaving such a great space, but personally, I'm so excited to see what she does in her next home, aren't you?!

Home: Pella Hedeby. Fastighetsbyrån

I love the thin shelving in the bedroom, what a great way to display favourite prints.

A couple of items I know and love: I have the same chunky moss knit throw in my bedroom. I also have a smaller version of the 'Je t'aime beaucoup' print by Therese Sennerholt (she also sells this fabulous fashion photography print). I'm a big fan of the Koushi Lampshade by Mark Eden Schooley which Pella has in her sitting room.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

If you like Pella's apartment you'll love some of the Swedish homes she has styled including this one, this one. and this one.

See you a little later for some Scandinavian Christmas inspiration. And don't forget to pop back tomorrow for a very exciting Advent give-away! It's all go on my scandinavian home this weekend!

Weekend Steals & Deals | Black Friday Edition

Good morning!  We're back from a day spent with two families filled with food, food and more food.   And a sweet new nephew who's still got all his fresh new baby chub that you just want to devour.   The food was delicious (Barefoot Contessa's sour cream coffee cake doesn't disappoint and this recipe for queso turned out great as one of our appetizers).  My brother made the best omelets and my sis-n-law did all the heavy lifting for the big turkey dinner.  It's all so good, but I'm stuffed!  We'll have leftovers for days, which is okay in my book.  How was your day?  Did you end up in stretchy pants too?  I'll be wearing my comfy pajamas all day as I get started on my Christmas decorations.  :)

But, I know many of you will be partaking in the Black Friday holiday sales and let me tell you, there are some good deals to be had!  I wouldn't brave the crowds, but shopping from the comfort of my couch with a cup of coffee may be in my future.  I went online to check out the sales and picked out some of my favorite steals and deals this week.  I did a little shopping of my own last week and my two faves are this faux fur infinity scarf and the beautiful tee that is so soft and a perfect gift for your friend (or yourself;)

Nórdico en blanco y negro + diy / Nordic in Black and White + diy

Christmas touches in a Finnish home

When do you start putting up your Christmas decorations? I've already added a few touches to my home including white amaryllis and hyacinths (I love the scent) as well as a few lit candles at breakfast and as soon as it gets dark at 15.30 (yes, I know!). This lovely, warm Finnish home is a perfect example of late November / early December Christmas decorating. It's the Helsinki pad of Kaisa, her partner, and cat Mr Paw (who can be seen making himself at home on the sofa). Kaisa is a dab hand at DIY (as you can see on her blog No Home Without You) and loves Scandinavian interiors and crafts. This is reflected in the way she has decorated her space - I particularly love the fairylights display, plants and bunting. How about you?

No Home Without You with kind permission.

I love how Kaisa has used a nordic base (white walls and light wood floors), and then added mid-century finds and touches of rustic wood for an extra cosy vibe. The bunting over the table reminds me of this wonderful Christmas space. DIY decorating idea for Thanksgiving or First advent perhaps?

Is there anything you love in particular about Kaisa's home?

Have a lovely day!

PS you can see examples of how I add amaryllis and hyacinths to my home work work place here
