Christmas 2010

Yes, it was even more fun celebrating Christmas with a little baby!  And having lots of family around is just the best.  On Christmas Eve, James made sure to wear his Santa pajamas in anticipation of Mr. Claus’ arrival.

He read Frosty the Snowman before bed.

On Christmas Eve, I prepared Barefoot Contessa’s sour cream coffee cake so that I could just pop it in the oven in the morning to bake.

image

I think this will become a family tradition for years to come.

image

Santa brought James two presents- a dinosaur walker and a workbench.  Of course, this year mama had to help unwrap the gifts.

We managed to get a good family picture in front of the tree before heading over to my parents’ house.

The Grandparents had plenty of presents waiting under the tree.

And the table festively set.

James tried his first pancakes made by Grandpa.

and got lots of presents.

Why do they package these toys so crazy?!

There we go!

Little Golden Books- I remember those!

Then we came back home for a get together and gift exchange with more family.  Did your living room look something like this too?

Jimmy’s sister made this two-sided UT blanket by cutting the ends of the fabric and tying them together.  So cute and cozy!

image

Then they gave James this UT tricycle- for when he’s older.

image

I think he likes it!

But even with all those new presents, he was still most interested in his little niece's vibrating ladybug toy that’s attached to her car seat!  He always finds it whenever they come over.

On the Christmas dinner menu was honey glazed ham, scallop potatoes, green beans with toasted almonds, cornbread dressing, caprese salad, and honey wheat rolls.  The meal was ended with homemade cheesecake with raspberries.  So yummy!!

The perfect ending to a perfect day spent with family.  I hope your day was wonderful too!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! This week I will be taking it easy for the most part, hopefully enjoying some more R&R. I hope you are doing the same!

Our Christmas Table

Is Christmas already over?!  Say it isn’t so!  Our Christmas was so wonderful, spent with both my family and Jimmy’s, watching James play with the presents his Grandparents spoiled him with, and eating way too much!  How was your day?  Do you feel like it’s over too soon too?  But we still have a few more days of December, so I’m keeping Christmas alive here a while longer:)

We hosted Christmas dinner at our house this year (a first for us).  Everyone helped out in the kitchen and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed.  We got to use the formal dining room that so often is neglected.

I used red, white, silver and a touch of light blue on the table.  The tablecloth, napkins and runner are from Cost Plus World Market.  I recently realized that World Market has some awesome table linens.  I got my Thanksgiving table runner there too.

image

I found the candle holders at Target and pretty red carnations at the grocery store.

image

image

Our wedding china (Ralph Lauren) was paired with red chargers from Wal-Mart and red and silver napkin rings from Crate & Barrel.

image

image

The candy cane ornaments were a Home Depot find.

image

After the Christmas dinner came and went and leftovers were had on Sunday, I’m still feeling quite lazy and not too sure I’m ready for Monday.  Are you feeling the same way?  I don’t want this long weekend to end!

What is a Silhouette?

The Silhouette is a digital cutting tool that connects to your computer just like a printer, but instead of printing designs, it cuts them with a small blade.  (You can print the designs too though)!

It comes with lots of shapes and cutout files, but you can also use fonts, shapes and logos from your computer to design your own cutouts.  Or, you can purchase more shapes, letters and cutouts from the Silhouette online store and download them to your computer, like these:

Merry Christmas

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
