How do you bring the outside into your home?

Hello! I hope you're having a great start to the week? At the weekends we always try to escape for a day. Whether that's a walk along a beach, hiking in the forest or simply getting away from it all. How about you? When it comes to the home, I love to see the surrounding nature reflected within. This styling by norwegian duo Kirsten Visdal and Lisbeth Nilsson for Interior Magasinet is a great example.  Sheepskin throws, logs for the fire, a branch from a tree and cushions bearing cute sheep faces come together to create a calm and cosy space close to nature, nordic style. How do you bring the outside in?

 I really do love the nordic colour scheme, there's something so calm about it, don't you think?

A few items I know and love - Dining area:  HAY loop dining table, Panton chair, Aksel Hansson chair. PH pendant lamp. Sitting room: Silence rug by Permafrost, coffee table by Norrgavel, slippers from Illums Bolighus, source beautiful sheepskins here, the fireplace is by Scan.

 PS When I lived in London the double-decker buses used to roar passed my flat and make the windows rattle - My Swedish boyfriend (now husband) found it really disconcerting but I found it strangely comforting. I guess that's another way of bringing the outside in?!

Could you wile away a morning in this lovely Swedish space?

Hello! The new year's eve cobwebs have been blown away by the cold wind howling outside and I'm sitting under a cosy blanket at  my desk with a steaming cup of freshly roasted coffee. Now that's the way to start work in 2015! This is going to be a good year. I thought I'd kick off with a lovely, uncluttered home in Gothenburg Sweden with white floors and walls. My favourite room is the kitchen with it's rustic table, brass bumling light, smeg fridge and window nook - what a perfect place to to wile away a morning don't you think?

Un refugio de montaña. / A mountain retreat.

¿Cómo habéis empezado el 2015?   Espero que muy bien, hoy os invito a dar un paseo por este precioso refugio de montaña abuhardillado situado en La Vall d'Aran,  uno de los parajes más bonitos y llenos de encanto  del Pirineo Catalán,  para  los que  no lo conocéis os lo recomiendo, ya que es un paraíso naturalque es un gran paraíso natur

Welcome 2015!

Happy first day of 2015!  Something about this year being 15 as opposed to 14 feels big to me.  We're closer to 2020 and I'll turn 40 next month and James will be 5 the month after!  No plans have been made yet, but such significant birthdays should be celebrated in a fun way, don't ya think?  I haven't had a chance to digest everything that's happened in 2014, let alone plan major goals for 2015, but there's no hurry.  I'm taking it each day as it comes for now.  I did manage to dust off my office desk and get it ready for January.  A fresh start always feels so good! 

I also cleared away the mess that's been cluttering up my office table.  Christmas and daily life has a tendency to clutter all horizontal surfaces.  

I took a few minutes after it was all cleared to think about  an organizing series this month.  I will get down and dirty with the Top 10 areas in our home that need a good clean out and organization overhaul and kick that off next week.  That'll give me a chance to gear up over the weekend - we are still enjoying all of our Christmas decorations around here. We'll probably take them down Saturday or Sunday.  

My pinboard for 2014 served it purpose and I'm thinking about replacing it with a new one or perhaps some art.  Since I spend so much time in my office, I need it to motivate me into being productive each day.  

We are having a nice, long Christmas break and James doesn't go back to school until the 6th, so until then, it's mostly family time and chillin'.  Usually I'd be ready to get things going, but the end of this year was such a roller coaster that I'm good with a few more slow days.
