Popular Pins // Easter Edition

Have y'all made any Easter plans?  I mentioned earlier that I am so excited to be having my Grandma visit from California.  We are so close and talk often (she even reads my blog!). She hasn't been here since my son was about 1 year old, so I can't wait for them to get reacquainted. It will be even better since they'll be able to talk to each other and hang out. For Easter, we'll be going to church and then having family over for lunch and an egg hunt.  No idea what's on the menu yet . . .

I already decorated part of my dining room, but want to add more Spring touches to the house.  For simplicity's sake, maybe I'll just add some green patterned pillows to the living room, a Springy throw, and tulips. That's an easy way to incorporate the season without going crazy. I browsed my Pinterest account to see what the most popular Easter pins lately are and found some good ones.  So many unique ways to decorate your eggs too.

Here goes:

This looks so good and Cyndy also makes these mixes for other holidays.

Amazing what a little gold leaf can do!

I bet this is so popular with the kids and really easy to assemble.

Don't want to mess with stinky dye or paint?  Markers to the rescue!

This site includes a free printable template.  So cute to just add a cotton ball tail on the back.

Pretty genius, the heat of the just-cooked eggs melts the crayon- be careful of your hands though!

I love a pretty Easter table.  This is a fun idea to make a little bird's nest with an egg personalized with your guests' initials.

This is a free chalkboard art printable that comes in 8x10 only.  I love that there are talented people out there sharing their creations with us!  Just print and frame = instant art for free!

My personal favorite via Made By Girl- eggs painted in the same vein as the art she sells in her shop.

Getting some good ideas? Easter is in 2 1/2 weeks- April 20th!

Una antigua granja de estilo rural, industrial y escandinavo / An old farm, rural, industrial and Scandinavian style

A lovely relaxed cabin in the Stockholm archipelagos

Since the clocks went forward and the evenings have got lighter, I've dared to dream of long lazy summer days. In Scandinavia it's popular to head to pared-back summer cottages by a sea or lake and spend the summer surrounded by family, friends and nature. This bohemian cabin out in the Stockholm archipelago is the holiday home of Swedish designer Carouschka Streijffert. Decorated with a mix of antique finds and treasures picked up on travels,  it's surely impossible to be anything but relaxed with it's laid back style and incredible vista. And if the weather turns - throw a couple of logs on the fire. What's not to love?!

Could you spend your summer here?

I say roll on balmy summer days with candlelit suppers alfresco and chilled glasses of wine!

Here are some other dreamy Scandinavian retreats to get everyone in the mood for summer this Wednesday morning: a Norwegian cabin by the sea, a Finnish island retreat, and a Swedish cottage with a lovely nook.

Have a lovely day!

Spring Style with Zappos

It seems like after the start of every new year, April is here before you know it!  In Houston, we are just getting some doses of really nice weather and I have definitely put away the sweaters.   Is your weather turning Spring-like yet?  I'm ready for more sun because this pale body could really use some color!  I found some Spring styles at Zappos (who knew they had more than just shoes?!)  and am excited to get to get to put on dresses and shorts for a change!

I really like this black Susana Monaco dress because it is racerback and one of those pieces that's just easy to run around in.  It's made of 84% Supplex nylon and 16% Lycra spandex so you don't need to wear a bra with it.  Dress it up with some wedges and accessories or wear flat sandals.  It also comes in pink and red

And how cute are these Lily Pulitzer shorts?!  They have a slight pattern which makes them more interesting.  I paired them with a coral top and tan heeled sandals.  They are 100% cotton and very comfortable.  I can see wearing them with tank tops or button-down shirts too.

This patterned Jessica Simpson dress will be perfect for Easter.  I'm trying to venture out of my comfort zone of always wearing solids or neutrals, so this is perfect. It comes with a fabric tie belt, but I was thinking of wearing one of my own belts.  Can't wait to wear it!

And I've always been fond of these white summery sundresses, but never owned one.  This one from Billabong is really cute.  I bet I'll be wearing it a lot with a pony tail, sunglasses, and flat sandals.  You could also add a scarf if you wanted to bring in some color.

I really love the convenience of online shopping. I always have been happy when ordering shoes from Zappos, and now that I know about the great selection of clothes, I have a feeling I'll be getting some new things from the comfort of my couch!  If you take a look at their site, let me know what you like.  They also have workout clothes and accessories. :)

*A big thank you to Zappos for sending me a few new Spring things!

A wonderful Copenhagen home

Happy April Fool's day! Have you fooled anyone yet?! In the UK you've got until midday but in Sweden you've the whole day - and then, once fooled you call your poor, unsuspecting subject a silly herring. What about in your country?! I'm oh so excited about today's home tour photographed by Tia Borgsmidt for the wonderful Danish magazine BoligLiv. It's the home of Marie and Andreas and their two children Uma and Morris just over the bridge in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The space is teeming with personal items including art and furniture they've either inherited or sourced from antique and second hand markets. It's such a wonderful, unique home!

Anything in particular you love about this space?

I spy design items including the AJ floor lamp, Ant chairs, and the Flowerpot VP3 desk lamp. Pick up mid-century treasures at Lauritz.

Love to see that Marie works at Central Hotel og Cafe, the world's smallest hotel. I recently booked it as a birthday trip for my husband and I and our breakfast will be served in this cafe. I can't wait!

I'm also excited to introduce a new sponsor today. Montreal based Irene Suchocki is the incredible fine art photographer behind the oh so fab online shop Eye Poetry. Her work combines her love of travel with her dream-like aesthetic which include city collections such as  Paris, City of Love (I'm looking at you, Erin), New York, New York, and Italy, La Dolce Vita. My personal fine art photography favourites include night glitter, ordinary silence, and plain sailing, how about you?

Have a lovely day!
