Super Bowl Party Recap 2013

Did you watch the game last night?! We hosted an annual Super Bowl party and had a fun, full house.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous, perfect for getting some friends together and hanging out in the backyard.  I knew we'd have a bunch of kiddos, so we rented a bounce house for the afternoon.  The kids (and some adults) loved it and bounced 'til dark.

For food, we served a slow cooked brisket and red beans.  The brisket was huge, about 8 pounds, so I was surprised there wasn't any left at the end of the party.

We also made cream cheese stuffed jalepenos with bacon (I tried to make them a little healthier with low fat cream cheese and lower sodium bacon).  You just pop them in a 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes.  I made three batches and they all disappeared.

Mexican 7-layer dip (refried beans, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, shredded cheese, olives, and green onions) and caprese skewers are a party staple.

Our sweet friends brought spinach dip (that I didn't get a pic of but was absolutely delicious!), and the cutest,  tastiest cupcakes and cookies.

The kids REALLY had a good time playing together.

And the adults did too!  I admit I didn't catch any of the game- or the commercials . . . just the half-time show.

What did y'all think?

P.S.  My friend Emily (Decor Chick) is hosting a sale on Joss & Main today.  I know she'd love it if you want to check it out!

You need to be a member to shop the site, but it's FREE to join, you just need an invite, which I've included for you HERE

Finn's cute bedroom

Tonight I'm heading over to visit my friend's newborn baby girl (soooo excited!). In  preparation I thought I'd share this wonderful, calm grey, white and wood nursery designed by Sissy + Marley, a NYC based boutique baby planner and concierge service. So pretty!

I love the calm atmosphere! If you're planning a nursery, Sissy + Marley have put together a great 'get the look'. And remember you can always get 15% off items like the fab Eames Armchair RAR (rocking chair), with code MYSCAN here (only the best for our little crumpets!).

And exciting news, Apartment Therapy are holding their annual 'The Homies' blog competition and I've been nominated for 'Best home & design inspiration blog', I can't believe it! Thank you so much to everyone who has voted for little me  :), if you'd like to vote and join in the fun click here.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend (I'm recovering from a day's skiing at Vallåsen here in Skåne yesterday :).

Una casa con estilo!! Me encanta la sencillez  que transmite la casa de Elisabeth Heier,  las texturas naturales. las vigas de madera, ambientes luminosos y todos los detalles tan cuidados típicos del
 ambiente escandinavo.

Blog Construction

Hi there, still working on the new blog over here.  Several of you asked if the blog roll with status updates is coming back.  I am still trying to decide.  Like you, it made reading other blogs easier.  However, it took up so much space and I am trying to simplify.  Until I decide which way to officially go, you can find my blog list on one of the tabs above.  Please excuse the mess, I am still working on that too.

Also, I had to share my source for the social media buttons on the side.  I found MoxieTonic on Etsy and I am so glad I did.  Not only are the buttons cute but her guide on how to write the code to get it to work was great.  I chose the circles but these are cute too.

A sustainable Finnish cabin

Yesterday it was so stormy here in Southern Sweden. I nipped around the corner for a coffee and the sea was full of white horses. It was all very exciting! A winter storm calls for a home at one with nature. And this Finnish retreat certainly fits the bill. I have seen the first picture so many times on Pinterest, but never the rest of the home. So here it is, the sustainable Four Cornered House in Virrat, Finland designed by Anu Puustinen and Ville Hara, Avanto Archtiects.

Architects: Avanto Architects Ltd / Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen, Photography: Anders Portman & Martin Sommerschield.

Imagine looking out of the vast windows into the wilderness? Or morning saunas with a vista? And there's that wonderful wood burning stove of course.

If you'd like to read more about this home and the sustainable ethos behind the architecture pop over to This is Paper (word of caution; you'll be stuck there for hours!).

Oh and my friend had a beautiful baby girl yesterday - such wonderful news!! I'm off to Loja Dada now for a little pressie and looking forward to a cuddle this weekend :)

Have a lovely few days and see you Monday!
