Pretty in pink...and blue, and yellow....

Nothing brightens up my day like a little pastel. It just adds so much 'prettiness' to a room and at the same time makes a space look really calm. The Scandinavian design company, Muuto (meaning 'new perspective' in Finnish)  have teamed up with one of my incredibly talented neighbours from All the way to Paris and have created these wonderful pictures taken by Petra Bindel. I see that the some of the photo shoot took place in my neighbour's beautiful home which was sold recently. Sorry boys,  but there's no stopping pink this season.

Fall Table Settings

October has arrived!  Can you believe it?  We are inching toward one of my favorite times of the year and I'm ready for it!  Houston was teased with some cooler weather this weekend, which has me really wishing for temperatures below 80.  I think we're gonna have to wait awhile longer though:(

This weekend I was thinking of some creative ways to add flair to our autumn table settings, and came up with a few ideas I think you'll like.  I will share the first one with you today, and a few others later in the week.

Our original Fall table was infused with traditional seasonal colors like rusty orange, gold and amber.  I placed a faux feather in the center of the plate, but wanted to see what else I could do to play with the setting.

At Michaels, I picked up a few inexpensive packages of goodies for just a few dollars.  Below is how I arranged a couple of tiny eggs, a little bird, and a small nest. I think the result is adorable!

I actually like the bird and nest resting on the burnt orange napkin better than on the plate alone.  The colors are so pretty.

I'll show you some place card ideas later this week and our Fall porch.  I actually found myself listening to Christmas music over the weekend.  I guess I'm already in the holiday spirit!  We'll be picking out James' Halloween costume soon- so far, he's torn between being Superman or a Circus Ringmaster.

I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

Don't mention the C word but...

Hej hej! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Do you know what I did? Bought my first Christmas present (eeek did I just mention the C word?!) - yes really! And I'm not even an organised person. I have a 4 and 2 year old and I promised myself not to have another December like the last one so this year I'm going to buy my pressies from online shops  - like my wonderful sponsors - L'Affiche Moderne  and LET LIV. And like the Sweden based Artilleriet, in case you need any encouragement, here are Artilleriet's inspiration images:

A show of hands for those who'd be happy to receive a present from this shop please?!

Do you have any great tips for some 'to cool for school' online Christmas shopping tips?

PS although I mentioned the C word I have made a vow to myself that I will not actually post any Christmas pictures until at least mid November - son don't worry!

PPS this is not a sponsored post  I just love the pretty pictures :)
