A Little Dose of Happy

LOVE this room! The shelves, the table and chair combo, the light, the wall color, all of it. Every last thing. It is also excites me because the pink cushions for my office chair are in and I can't wait to paint the chairs and show you the finished product.

baby james (18 months)

A year and a half old! Wow!  It just keeps getting better and better.

Now James is really starting to talk to us and we actually understand what he's saying!  Mostly he says "Gabba Gabba" because he wants to watch Yo Gabba Gabba.  Is it any wonder I'm hearing this in my dreams?!?!

James really loves music now and will dance anytime he hears it, doing the famous baby dance, bouncing up and down.  The cutest thing he's doing lately is trying to snap his fingers- I couldn't figure out what he was doing when I first saw it, but then realized he's imitating me!!

He's such a little monkey these days too, climbing all over everything!

He threw his first temper tantrum when I pulled him off the table and told him "no"- he was so dramatic, flailing on the floor.  I was stunned at first, because I've never seen him do that, so I almost laughed, but held back and tried to ignore it.  Thankfully, it only lasted a few seconds.

Then he played with his crayons and the adorable little crayon holder that Lauren from Whimsy Lane made him.  Thank you Lauren!

Later that day, we must not have pulled the strap tight enough while shopping, because I looked back and saw this.  He was trying to get the Yo Gabba Gabba video in the cart!  Note to self: keep those straps tightened!

Going to restaurants is interesting these days, but we've discovered that James loves hummus.  Maybe it's the dipping.

He's just a big boy now, sitting up at the table all by himself (but still eats in the high chair).

James is still as squirmy as ever and I have to change his diaper and put on his clothes at mock speed.  A sweet blog reader, Rachel, sent me a package of Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers to try- you don't have to fasten the sides, just pull them up- Genius!!

His vocabulary is expanding by the day too.  It's so fun to talk to him now and to realize that he understands what we're saying to him.

Quiet Time

One of the best parts of being pregnant and now having a new born is the kindness of friends and strangers. I was blown away by all the well wishes I received from random people in stores, etc. while pregnant. While in Atlanta for Market a homeless man crossed the street and approached us. I assumed he was coming to ask for money but instead he came over to say congratulations and wish me the best of luck...and that was it, on he went. I have thought about that moment so many times since for two reasons- feeling bad for being assumptive about him and how his simple, kind words touched me so much. Now with a baby, support and generosity from friends and family is abundant and I am filled with gratitude. It makes you think what the world would be like if we were all just a little kinder to each other, not just during special times but on a small, simple everyday basis.

"Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality." Romans 12:9-13

Interview at Serenity Now

One of my first blog friends was the kind-hearted, sincere, and funny Amanda at Serenity Now.  She is incredibly down-to-earth, funny, and genuine.  Amanda is one of those people that, as soon as you read her blog, you can see yourself sitting down to chat with her over coffee at Starbucks, laughing and sharing stories about parenting, running a household, decor and life in general.  She "gets" it and that's why I love her.

I answered Amanda's thoughtful interview questions about blogging, meals, magazines, fashion and more at her blog and you can check it out here!

Around Here

One week ago we were welcoming Henry into the world, it is hard to believe it has already been 7 days! Since then we have been doing a little of this and little of that. Henry has been working on his tan (or decreasing it I should say)...
Which we are happy to say is all cleared up. And while I am not working for a while that doesn't mean that the deliveries stop, they just come to the house instead of the office.Which meant HBS experienced his first job with MSI, delegating the deliveries (please excuse the wet hair, etc. I was lucky to even be dressed!)...
I loved everything that came in for clients, but I am most excited about this art/photography, can't wait to show you when it gets to its final destination- a law office fittingly. We have been getting used to being a family of three, the best transition one could ask for...

And in case you were wondering (although probably not) the stumps have lost their bark thanks to some help from Patrick (more on that later).

Hopefully very soon this one will make its way to the nursery as a side table. As you can tell it still needs a lot of work. Thank you for all the advice from this post. We have followed every comment and researched where you said to go, so helpful!

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
