Hair

If I added up all the time I’ve spent washing, drying, curling, styling, spraying, cutting, coloring, discussing, obsessing, loving, hating, and debating my hair, surely it would add up to  . . . more time than I care to admit!  I’ve had all lengths (mostly long) and all colors (mostly blonde) over the years.   Each style tells a story.

December 2007 (long, blonde).  Just married and oh, so in love!

May 2008 (short, blonde).  Ready for a “change” and chopped it to my shoulders.

June 2009 (medium, brunette).  Getting tired of appointments with the colorist and decided it would be better to just do a solid brunette to avoid all that maintenance.

May 2010 (pony tail always, blondish).  Bummed to discover that the brunette also required maintenance, and faded so quickly, so  . . . going back to blonde- but in the Houston heat, pony tails work best.

In my Academy Awards of hair, those shown below would be my winners.  I often wonder if it’s the hair or the gorgeous face that makes the women look so beautiful.  I’m sure it’s a combination of both.

Best Short- Halle Berry.  This is how I like her best.  She rocks it like nobody’s business.

Best Long- Olivia Palermo.  Looks shiny and healthy and perfectly sunkissed (before she went brunette)

Best Bald- Natalie Portman.  Are you serious?  She looks fabulous!

Best Super Blonde- Jessica Simpson.  A blonde bombshell.

Best Red- Julianne Moore.  Super sexy.

Best Brunette- Jessica Alba.  She’s done a lot of colors, but rich brown is my favorite on her.

Best Bang- Reece Witherspoon.  A classic beauty.

Best Waves- Gisele Bundchen

Best Curls- Kim Kardashian

Best All Around- Jennifer Aniston.  Just looks effortless and gorgeous always.  Beautiful color always.  I don’t know how she gets it so super-straight.  Remember the really early days of Friends- naturally curly?? Brazilian blowout?

Morning Snack- Light Bright

I just bought a new computer and I am far from figuring out how to use it. I wanted to post something else but navigating the pictures is taking longer than expected so I will leave you with this one for now. I am sure I have already used it on here before but I don't remember it (not that that means anything these days) so it is new to me....

New Counter Stools

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a great long weekend!  We spent a lot of time in the sun, which was great- I love to be around the pool and beach.  And now it's back to work.

Although I have a nice home office to blog and be crafty in, I most often find myself checking my emails and peeking in on blogs at our kitchen counter.  Standing up at the counter to use my computer was getting a little annoying, so I started searching for a counter stool to sit in.

Here's what I found at Amazon for $120 for 2:

They are really comfortable to sit in and the seat height is adjustable.  I also ordered these, but I like the adjustable stools better.  Now, it's so much easier to use my computer during the day at the kitchen counter! :)

Quiet Time

4th of July DIY for the kiddos

Are y'all in the U.S. enjoying the start of your long weekend?  We are! Heading to a pool party today and then to the beach on Monday- lots of fun in the sun:)

If you are looking for something easy to do with the kids, I wanted to share this fun 10-minute project with you from Courtney (A Thoughtful Place).

Courtney bought the craft sticks and candy melts from Michael’s.  Simply stick the craft stick in the marshmallow, dip in melted candy and add some sprinkles.  She then filled a pail with sand so that they can easily stick inside as they set. Leave them plain or add a candy wrapper and tag to each one.

Etsy Stalker

I've been wanting to introduce you to a new blogger friend and sponsor of my blog, Julie (Etsy Stalkers).  Ever since I found out about her blog, I love to pop in and see what's on her mind and I know I'm always in for a good laugh because she is so funny!  I asked if she'd like to do a guest post for you today and she agreed:)

************
Hi, I’m Julie and I’m a Stalker. (All together now – Hiiii Julie)
My house — it’s like Hoarders meets Martha Stewart meets Ty Pendington may show up with a bullhorn at any moment. An interior designer I am not, but I try. I really, really try.
I’m also really good at coming up with excuses. Ahem.
If I’ve learned anything since owning a home, it’s that little details can make a huge difference. That’s why I stalk etsy. Literally, I do. Sometimes I email etsy employees there just to say hi. Wait, did I just say that out loud?
Anyhoo, before I had my daughter, I swore that if I ever had a girl I would never make a girly room. And then my daughter popped out and it’s like I had diarriah of the girliness. I found these paper butterflies at Almost Sunday Designs and voila, a room was born (FYI—the birth of the room was surprisingly easier than a c-section.)

I recently purchased these nubs from Focus Line Art as a father’s day gift for the hubby, which was actually a gift for myself because I love them and now I get to say the word ‘nub’ all of the time. You like how I worked that one? The dead trees now live in our front foyer, which works wonders for distracting people from our 70’s themed flooring.

Last but not least, a friend of mine stalked this bow holder from T-Tot Boutique and gave it to me for birthing my daughter. Yes she (my daughter, not my friend) may be ‘hair challenged’ but once it fills in, bows will be a hangin’!

If you made it to the end of this post, thank you. If not, you’re stupid. Kidding, you’re not. Love me, visit Etsy Stalkers please. I need the validation.

I told you she was funny! At the time I'm writing this, Julie has 159 followers- let's help her get a few more;)  I know it would make her day!
