Crea ambientes con papel pintado / Decorating with wallpaper

I Feel Like An Artist

One of the things I discovered while being house bound this week was an app called Waterlogue.  I wanted to share it here in case you have not seen it making the rounds on Instagram, Pinterest, etc.  This app takes your photos and turns them into works of art.  Completely worth the $2.99 price although I will warn you it is addictive.  Here are some pictures I put into the app...
(thank you Jenny for the one above)

A fresh, bright and beautiful Dutch cottage

I do love a weekend escape. This white country cottage belonging to interior designer and co-owner of NU interieur /ontwerp Nathalie Fransen, architect Bas Van Egmond and their three children in the Netherlands hits the mark! The Dutch cottage has been renovated into a beautiful, fresh, light space using among other things, a lick of white paint, a new kitchen and bathroom. For a relatively small space of 34 metres square this family weekend retreat gives an illusion of space. Take me there!

I love this cottage, it has everything I could dream of in a holiday cottage, how about you?

You can see more pictures and read more about this Dutch space here

For more Scandinavian retreat inspiration you might want to check out this page (warning: you might want to pour yourself a coffee first, you could wile away a good hour looking through these Scandinavian rural retreats!).

Have a lovely weekend!

PS we're off to the jungle here in Thailand for the weekend, exciting! See you Monday.

Checking In

Well hey there, how have y'all been?  This week started one way and ended the complete opposite thanks to an unexpected snow storm.  The good news is I got to spend a lot of time with this guy.
No school again Friday means we will have to get back to our normal routine Monday….and that is just fine with me, routine can wait!  I hope y'all have had a good week and I hope you have an even better weekend!

En tonos pastel/ Soft tones

Simple, limpio, moderno, es lo que siento al ver estas preciosas  imágenes

¿Quien piensa que los tonos pastel son solo para habitaciones infantiles?

Teacher Appreciation Gift

With a child now in preschool, and through the benefit of being a "room Mom" I see firsthand how hard our teachers work and how much they care for our kids.  Especially at this young age, they are as much teachers showing students how to read and write as they are caregivers helping kids navigate through emotions toward independence.

Although National Teacher Appreciation Week is in May, our school is celebrating our teachers this week with a luncheon and small tokens of appreciation from the students.  I know teachers love gift cards and Stella & Dot (judging by the responses on my instagram about the teachers' Christmas gifts), but for this event, we're giving notepads and pens.  Maybe I'm biased because I'd love to receive this as a gift, but I think it makes a thoughtful present, especially when you wrap it up with a sweet handwritten sentiment.

These notepads were found at Homegoods, but I've also seen similar ones at craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

I added decorative ribbon to each set and a little gift tag that I stamped "Thank You" and will write the "to" and "from" on.    These little details are nice!

We have two homeroom teachers and a Spanish teacher to give these gifts to, but I'm always thinking of how all the gifts add up when you have multiple kids with multiple teachers. These notepads were about $5 each.

If you have posted about a great teacher gift, please leave a link in the comments.  I want to add more pins to my "TEACHER" Pinterest board.  You can follow all of my Pinterest boards HERE.

If you are a teacher, let us know what you like to receive as a token of appreciation. We gave our teacher a little "getting to know you" form to fill out at the beginning of the year so that we'd have an idea of what they like.  Do you teachers like that or just prefer gift cards?  Where do you like gift cards to?

The black and white workspace of a Finnish blogger

A few weeks ago I posted a beautiful collaborative workspace in San Francisco and it was so popular I thought I'd post about another inspirational office today (because we can't all be on holiday in the Philippines!). This black and white work corner belongs to the editor of Finnish blog Lily. One of the things I love most about this corner is that it totally blends in to the area around it (love the black leather sofa). I could certainly sit here and blog, could you work here?

Lily with kind permission
The space includes an Eames DSR chair (15% discount with code MYSCAN) and the Aröd task light from IKEA.

You can also see her mix and match dining space here. Love the way she's photographed it don't you?

I also love this Norwegian work space, this beautiful white and light wood work area and this art studio. How about you?

Have a lovely day!

I♥ Tela de saco / I ♥ grain sacks
