A vintage / industrial / modern B&B in Provence anyone?!

Dreaming of escape to this very cool and very beautiful hotel, La Maison Pujol in Provence, France this morning. I visited Provence last year. Oh how I wish I'd stayed in this bed and breakfast packed with vintage pieces and a great touch of modern industrial. The only problem is I might still be there. Thank you to  photographer Manolo Yllera for the permission to use these great images.

Love the big letters, love the touches of orange, the concrete walls, the dining area....yup, pretty much love everything!

Trevlig Torsdag! Have a lovely day!

New Set Of Wheels

I would love to have the office one step closer to "finished" and I believe the next step is figuring out the chair situation.  The reupholstered cushions came in but I want to have them sprayed and use them as the desk chairs.  The problem is they are not tall enough for the desks and I really love a desk chair on wheels.
I thought adding casters would be easy but the base of the legs does not allow anything to be screwed in from the bottom and the tapered legs add another difficult element.
One solution is casters made for antique chairs with cups that cater to the tapered legs but so far all that I have found have been at least $13/caster like these.
However, I am unsure of these are made for heavy use and when you multiply them by 4 legs on multiple chairs- chairs that I love but not worth spending too much on- it becomes more than I want to put into these particular chairs.  So, if you know of any options I am not thinking of for these legs please let me know.  I would love to be able to use the chairs if possible.

Tuesday interior tips you don't want to miss!

A rare evening post from me, but there are a few inspiring things I've seen today that I had to share with you. Firstly, a new edition of Rue magazine is out, YAAAYYY! Kick back, pour yourself a glass of wine and read it here.

Rue magazine
Secondly, lovely blog Mechant Design is showing a beeeautiful parisian apartment tour here.

And finally, if you've been watching The Oscar's this week and pining after a little hollywood glamour, why not channel the interior look from film The Artist with tips from Homestilo?

Bonsoir! x

Segreto Part II

Yesterday I posted about a book I love Segreto, Secrets To Finishing Beautiful Interiors.  However, the book is so full of beautiful spaces I had to share some more (although there is a lot more to be seen in the book).

Dining Room Vintage Botanical Calendar Wall Art

This post has been a long time coming.  A while back, my sweet, sweet friend Stephanie {Cre8ive Designs, Inc.), knowing I'm a big fan of botanical art, mailed me a vintage calendar (from 1965!) that she wasn't using and was thoughtful enough to reach out to me and ask if I'd be interested in it.  When I said, "of course!" she mailed it to me from California!  I was beyond thrilled and so excited to receive it and see the gorgeous images inside that look like beautiful watercolored paintings.

I knew I wanted to hang a grouping of them, but didn't want to spend a fortune on frames, so I went with my $5 WalMart frames without a mat.

I hung them immediately in my dining room, but did a terrible job- they were totally uneven and I grouped all 8 together on a larger wall opposite the window.  They hung that way for months until my husband was kind enough to rehang them perfectly straight for me onto two walls.  He is so good at hanging pictures, curtain rods, etc., but HATES doing it, complains constantly the whole time, and chides me for not being able to do it myself.  I don't mind, because in the end, it looks like this:

Straight!

See how unique and pretty the images are?!

And I kept the calendar part exposed because I thought it added great character to the art.

So I have to give a big ole hug to my friend Stephanie.  I'm so glad I am finally getting to share with you how the calendar looks framed and hanging in our dining room.  And I am so touched that she thought of me and cared enough to consider what would look nice in my home.  I really do take the suggestions of readers to heart and often find myself incorporating your opinions into my design process at home.

And you know how I "met" Stephanie?  When I found her Pantry Makeover, and then, being so impressed with her fabric lined walls, emailed her to ask about how she did it.  She wrote me right back and we quickly started exchanging emails and checking in on each others' blogs.  I actually ended up lining the back of our sitting room shelves with fabric too.

If you aren't familiar with Stephanie's story or her work, I encourage you to check it out.  You won't be disappointed.  This girl has major talent and, as you now know, a huge heart.

The Melbourne home of an illustrator and vintage bargain hunter

I spotted this Melbourne home of illustrator Paula Mills over at the great, well known blog Design Sponge. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it, eh hem, I mean share it. I can't tell you how much I love the home-owners' style. The wonderful wall displays, the vintage finds from around the globe, the pops of colour, the white backdrop. Everything is spot on and apparently this is only the beginning.

If you fancy reading more about this home hop on over to the full interview and more pics at Design Sponge.  Don't you love the display of tomato tins? Such an easy to way to make a great display. Next time I'm at the supermarket I might just buy a few items for their packaging (x15!). Any ideas you'll take from this?

Gorgeous Finishes, Segreto, Part 1

One of the most important parts of the design process is planning the details.  What can you do to take a space one step farther?  When I received the book, Segreto, Secrets To Finishing Beautiful Interiors, I knew I was in for a treat.  The author, Leslie Sinclair, and her team paint, plaster, stencil, faux finish and more the most amazing spaces.  The book is packed with gorgeous and awe inspiring rooms.  Here are just some.....
Remember this kitchen? One of my all time favorites.....
I highly recommend this book.  The interiors are timeless, elegant, classic and awe inspiring.  Beautiful photography and pages of talented designers make it a wonderful read.
