Mirror Steal and Your Opinion

If you are following my tweets, @honeywerehome you know that I scored two awesome mirrors over the weekend at Hobby Lobby.

I had my heart set on the Celeste Mirror at Williams Sonoma Home, but at $250 (on SALE) I was hoping to find another less expensive option.

image

I searched all over the web and found a nearly identical version at QVC for $80, but sadly, it was sold out.

image

Imagine my surprise when I walked into Hobby Lobby this weekend and spotted this for $65 (50% of $130):

 image

It has two rings as opposed to three and a larger mirror, but because the Hob Lob version is smaller in diameter (32 as opposed to 38 inches) I was able to buy two to flank our living room media cabinet.

image

Here’s the progression.  We started with our white built in and a pair of tall woven vases from Z Gallerie.

image

I added sticks to the vases and painted the back of the media cabinet Jamestown Blue by Sherwin Williams.  The blue didn’t photograph very well in this picture.  Of course, I’m always fiddling with accessorizing the shelves.

And now with the new mirrors.  Initially, I loved it, but now (after photographing it) I’m not sure I’m loving them in this location- might look too cluttered behind the sticks?   I’m going to live with it for a while and consider other appropriate places for them too.

image

Later, I tried removing the vases, but I don’t think that works.

image

What would you do:

1) Keep the mirrors and vases as is?

2) Keep the mirrors, remove the vases?

3) Move the mirrors to another location?

Something else altogether??

Thanks for your input!

Stylish Blogger Award

image

A big ole smooch to my friends who passed on the Stylish Blogger Award to me last month!

A Thoughtful Place

Southern Comfort

Michaela Noelle

Chic Coastal Living

Hangin with the Hewitts

Simply LKJ

If you’re not familiar with it, there are 4 duties to perform to accept the award:

1.  Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award

2.  Share 7 things about yourself

3.  Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers

4.  Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award

7 Things You Don’t Know About Me

1.    Must.Have.Coffee.In.The.Morning.  My hubby gets up before me and brews us a pot everyday.  We drink Starbuck’s Espresso Roast and I like to add a glug of Vanilla Caramel creamer to mine.

image

2.  My first job was at a car wash when I was in high school.  I couldn’t wait to start earning my own money.  My most recent profession is the launch of my Organizational Design business.  So far, I have loved it.  The clients I’ve gotten to work with rock and I love helping them transform their spaces.  It’s so rewarding to see the cluttered “befores” and the beautiful “afters”! It doesn’t feel like work to me at all.

image

3.  I’m really short- barely 5’1.

image

4.  My husband and I got engaged after dating for 8 months, and we were married four months later.  Not too much time to plan a wedding, but I was very decisive (regarding him and the wedding plans:)

0017

5.  I sang in my church choir for about 5 years, but left when I got married to devote more time to our family.  I really miss it.

image

6.  I’d love to have another baby (or two)!

7.  I am a night owl.  If I had my druthers, I would stay up til 2 am and sleep til 10.  But, James gets up around 7ish so I try to get to bed by midnight.  You might find me commenting on blogs around that time:)

The Blissdom Chronicles

Blissdom is a blog conference open to several blog niches (mom, home, fitness, green, frugal, fashion, etc) whose goal is to celebrate blog authors, their work, and community.  They host several breakout sessions: 1) writing track, 2) professional track, and 3) brand partnership track.  My goal was really simply to meet and hang out in-person with the women that I have met and admired through their blogs.

My friend Emily (Decor Chick) traveled with me and we roomed together.  I’ve known Emily for a long time now, but you really get to know someone when you “live” with them for a couple of days!  After traveling and staying with Emily, I can honestly say, I’d room with her any day!   She was a breeze, even when I kept getting us lost! :)

We got there (Nashville) on Wednesday night, dropped our luggage off in the room and headed out to dinner in the hotel with these lovely ladies.

After dinner, while walking back to our room, we ran into:

Decor Chick, Honey We’re Home, Sand and Sisal, Southern Hospitality, Centsational Girl, 320 Sycamore and her sister, Kristin, Brooke (aspiring blog author), Earnest Parenting

We only got to chat for a few minutes, but I’m thankful for even that opportunity.  It’s hard not to be a little “starstruck” when you meet these veteran bloggers whom you’ve admired for so long.  I’m pretty sure I rambled on and on, but they were gracious nonetheless.

The next morning (oh yes I did workout!) and then we attended the conference, which kicked off with an AWESOME keynote speech by Brene Brown.  She gave me so much to think about that it’s too much for this post, but I’ll just show you one of the things she touched on:

Sand and Sisal’s awesome heels! :)  (had to get a shot!)

After the mini concert, we went to the Incourage party, which was one of my favorite parts of the trip.  I didn’t get a picture of her, but I so enjoyed getting to talk to Jen {Balancing Beauty and Bedlam}.  She was so personable, genuine and just fun to be around!  Near the end of the party we were all sitting because our feet hurt and she just plopped down on the floor and chatted with our group for a long time.

I also bumped into Sarah {Thrifty Decor Chick} and Beth {The Stories of A to Z}.  They were equally as nice, but I really didn’t get to talk to them for very long.  It was REALLY crowded at that point and we were all kinda mushed together.  I managed to say a few words to Sarah about how much I love her blog and compliment her on how down-to-earth and sincere she is and she gave me a big hug!  So sweet!

I didn’t get pictures with everyone, but had a lot of good chats with:

Pizzazzerie (She was a Blissdom volunteer and so super cute!  Also, a whiz at Twitter.)

The Borrowed Abode (Jane blogs about rental decor and is really an open and honest type of person.  I talked her ear off because she is such a good listener!)

Pink and Polkadot encouraged me that I could make my own slipcover;)

Emily and I headed home on Friday morning after breakfast with Sawdust and Paper Scraps, Pretty Handy Girl, Two Story Cottage, and House of Hepworths

*I didn’t get any pics of the gorgeous Opryland hotel, but Beth {The Stories of A to Z} did, and her post also has lots of pics of bloggers I’m sure you’ll recognize:)

It was so good to get home and see this face
